From July 7 to 11, 2024, the Global Migrant Network (GMWN) hosted the Inauguration of the Global Migrant Workers Forum at Nashipai Resort & Spa and Lake Naivasha Resort in Naivasha, Nakuru County, Kenya. This landmark event brought together grassroots, migrant-led organizations from across the Global South and the MENA region to officially launch the GMWN and appoint its inaugural leadership team.

A proud highlight for the Cameroon Migrant Network (CMN) was the appointment of its Chairperson, Mr. Mosaka Manfred, as a member of the GMWN leadership team—an acknowledgment of CMN’s growing impact on migrant advocacy.

The convening featured dynamic panel discussions on key migration issues, including migrant reintegration, labor rights, gender-based violence in migration, and access to legal and psychosocial support for migrant workers. Participants also engaged deeply with Marshall Ganz’s transformative framework: People, Power, and Change, and heard inspiring presentations from representatives of Humanity United (HU) on topics such as building sustainable migrant-led movements, donor-grantee collaboration, and safeguarding migrant dignity.

Country representatives from Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the U.S., and Cameroon were in attendance, creating valuable opportunities for cross-country dialogue, partnership building, and sharing best practices such as community-based reintegration programs, migrant mental health initiatives, and grassroots organizing strategies.

The event left participants energized, connected, and filled with renewed hope. It served as a vital meeting point for ideas, resources, and solidarity among migrant advocates, setting the stage for a united, empowered global migrant movement.
