Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO)

An in-depth training programme delivered in the country of origin: migration risks, destination country laws, safe labour practices and emergency contacts.

Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO)

Most abuse in the migration corridor begins before departure — with an unregulated agent, an unread contract or a promise that was never going to be kept. Pre-Departure Orientation is CMN's front-line prevention work.

Delivered in Cameroon before travel, PDO covers the realities of the Kafala sponsorship system, contract reading, recruitment red flags, passport rights, working hours and rest days, cultural adjustment, mental health, remittances and savings, and a full list of emergency contacts — embassies, labour authorities, IOM protection centres and CMN country representatives.

Every participant leaves with a printed contact card and is connected to the CMN representative in their destination country, so that support exists from the day they land.

What this project delivers
